Booking

Can I book a same-day or urgent appointment?

+

We do our best to fit urgent needs in the same day where possible. For the fastest answer, call the clinic directly, since same-day availability changes throughout the day.

How do I book an appointment online?

+

Use the "Book appointment" button on our site to start a request through Ava Connect, our online booking assistant, which guides you to a time that works for you.

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

+

No referral is needed to see a family physician at Medimax. You can book directly as a new or existing patient.

YOUR VISIT

Are you part of a Primary Care Network?

+

Yes, Medimax is part of the Calgary West Central Primary Care Network (PCN).

What are the benefits of being part of the Calgary West Central PCN?

+

Being part of the PCN means you have access to more than just your family doctor — including nurses, psychologists, and social workers who work alongside your care team. It also means better-coordinated visits, with follow-up and tracking to help catch things early. And if you ever need care when we're not available, the PCN's Primary Care Centre is open 365 days a year, including after hours.

Do you use AI during appointments?

+

Some providers use an AI medical scribe to help draft clinical notes during your visit, so they can focus more on listening to you. You're always welcome to opt out, with no impact on your care. Learn more about Ava.

What are your clinic hours?

+

We're open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM, Wednesdays 9 AM to 3 PM, and Saturdays 10 AM to 2 PM, first-come, first-served. If it feels urgent, please call ahead, and bring your Alberta Health Care card if you can.

What should I bring to my first visit?

+

A valid ID, your Alberta Health Care card, and a list of any current medications. If you're transferring from another clinic, prior records are helpful but not required.

Do you accept walk-in patients?

+

Yes — Medimax welcomes walk-ins alongside scheduled appointments. Wait times may be longer during busy periods, so booking ahead is recommended when possible.

INSURANCE

Is my visit covered by Alberta Health?

+

Most medical visits are covered under Alberta Health. Some forms and services — like driver's medicals or travel certificates — fall outside that coverage and have a separate fee. See our fee schedule.

Do you accept private insurance?

+

For services not covered by Alberta Health Care, you can submit your receipt to your private insurance provider for reimbursement, depending on your plan's coverage.
